A Life-Story Supplication to the Awakened Emanation, the Great Tertön Chokgyur Lingpa

ཀུན་ཁྱབ་བདེ་ཆེན་འོད་གསལ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐུ། །

künkhyap dechen ösel chö kyi ku

All-pervading great bliss, dharmakāya of luminosity,

འཁོར་འདས་སྙིང་པོ་མི་ཤིགས་ཐིག་ལེ་ཆེ། །

khordé nyingpo mishik tiklé ché

essence of samsara and nirvana, indestructible great sphere,

དངོས་པོ་ཀུན་གྱི་ཁྱབ་བདག་གདོད་མའི་མགོན། །

ngöpo kün gyi khyapdak dömé gön

sovereign who encompasses all things, Original Lord,

རྗེ་བཙུན་བླ་མའི་ཞབས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

jetsün lamé zhap la sölwa dep

Venerable Guru, I supplicate at your feet.

ཨོ་རྒྱན་སངས་རྒྱས་གཉིས་པའི་ཐུགས་ཀྱི་སྲས། །

orgyen sangyé nyipé tuk kyi sé

Heart son of the Second Buddha of Uḍḍiyāna,

གཏེར་འབྱིན་གྲུབ་ཐོབ་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་འཁོར་ལོས་སྒྱུར། །

ter jin druptop gyamtsö khorlö gyur

universal ruler of the ocean of accomplished treasure revealers,

རྣམ་ཐར་བསམ་ཡས་སྙིགས་དུས་བསྟན་འགྲོའི་མགོན། །

namtar samyé nyikdü ten drö gön

protector of teachings and beings in degenerate times, through your incredible life example—

མཆོག་གྱུར་གླིང་པའི་ཞབས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

chokgyur lingpé zhap la sölwa dep

Chokgyur Lingpa, I supplicate at your feet.

གདོད་ནས་རབ་ཞིའི་བདུད་རྩི་བརྙེས་གྱུར་ཀྱང༌། །

döné rapzhi dütsi nyé gyur kyang

Though you discovered the nectar of complete peace from the very beginning,

སྐུ་དང་ཞིང་ཁམས་རྒྱ་མཚོའི་སྤྲིན་བཀོད་དེ། །

ku dang zhingkham gyamtsö trin kö dé

you nonetheless manifested an ocean-cloud of kāyas and realms.

བཟོ་སྐྱེ་མཆོག་གི་སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་མཐའ་ཡས་པས། །

zo kyé chok gi tulku tayepé

With infinite emanations—created, incarnate, and supreme—

འདུལ་བཞིའི་ཆོ་འཕྲུལ་སྟོན་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

dül zhi chotrül tön la sölwa dep

you displayed the magic of the four conversions. I pray to you.

ཁྱད་པར་གངས་ཅན་མངའ་བདག་ཁྲི་སྲོང་རྗེའི། །

khyepar gangchen ngadak trisong jé

In particular, you attained the supreme siddhi

སྲས་ཀྱི་ཚུལ་བཟུང་མཆོག་གི་དངོས་གྲུབ་བརྙེས། །

sé kyi tsül zung chok gi ngödrup nyé

as the son of Trisong, sovereign of the Land of Snow.

སངས་རྒྱས་གླིང་སོགས་ངོ་མཚར་རྨད་བྱུང་བའི། །

sangyé ling sok ngotsar mejung bé

I pray to you in your elaborate dance, the display of magical manifestations—

སྒྱུ་འཕྲུལ་གར་བརྒྱས་རོལ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

gyutrül gar gyé röl la sölwa dep

the wondrous and marvelous Sangyé Lingpa and others.

ཐུགས་བསྐྱེད་ཁྱད་འཕགས་སྙིགས་མའི་འགྲོ་ལ་དགོངས། །

tukkyé khyé pak nyikmé dro la gong

Your excellent aspiration considers the beings of the degenerate age;

ཕྲིན་ལས་ཁྱད་འཕགས་གང་འདུལ་དེར་མཐུན་སྟོན། །

trinlé khyé pak gang dül der tün tön

your excellent activity manifests in accordance with those to be tamed;

རྣམ་ཐར་ཁྱད་འཕགས་སྔོན་མེད་གསང་མཛོད་འཆང༌། །

namtar khyé pak ngönmé sangdzö chang

your excellent life example upholds an unprecedented treasury of secrets.

ཁྱད་པར་སུམ་ལྡན་ཁྱོད་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

khyepar sumden khyö la sölwa dep

You, endowed with this threefold excellence, I pray to you.

མདོ་སྟོད་ས་ཡི་ཐིག་ལེར་བསམ་བཞིན་དུ། །

do tö sa yi tiklér samzhin du

Consciously taking rebirth in Upper Dokham’s central region,

སྐྱེ་བ་བཞེས་ནས་གཞོན་ནུའི་སྐབས་སུ་ཡང༌། །

kyewa zhé né zhönnü kapsu yang

you awakened while still but a youth.

ཕལ་པའི་ཡུལ་འདས་དམ་པའི་རྣམ་ཐར་སད། །

pelpé yül dé dampé namtar sé

You transcended the common domain with your sacred life example,

དད་ལྡན་སྤྲོ་བ་བསྐྱེད་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

deden trowa kyé la sölwa dep

sparking admiration in the faithful. I pray to you.

བཅུ་གསུམ་བཞེས་ཚེ་ཨོ་རྒྱན་དངོས་སུ་མཇལ། །

chusum zhé tsé orgyen ngö su jel

Just thirteen years of age, you met Orgyen in person.

ཟབ་གཏེར་རྗེས་གནང་བསྩལ་ནས་བྱིན་གྱིས་བརླབས། །

zapter jenang tsel né jin gyi lap

He blessed you with empowerments of treasures profound.

ལྷ་སྲས་ཐུགས་དམ་རྟེན་སོགས་དངོས་གྲུབ་ཐོབ། །

lhasé tukdam ten sok ngödrup top

You received the gift of Lhasé’s sādhana objects.

དགོངས་གཏེར་ཀློང་ནས་བརྡོལ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

gongter long né döl la sölwa dep

I pray to you, whose mind treasures spontaneously flowed.

ཀར་འབྲུག་འབྲི་སྟག་ཡབ་སྲས་གཙོར་གྱུར་པའི། །

kar druk dri tak yapsé tsor gyurpé

You followed, without sectarianism, countless genuine great beings,

རིས་མེད་ཚད་མའི་སྐྱེས་ཆེན་དུ་མ་བསྟེན། །

rimé tsemé kyé chen duma ten

headed by the hierarchs of Karma, Drukpa, Drikung, and Taklung.

མཉེས་པ་གསུམ་གྱིས་མདོ་སྔགས་བདུད་རྩིའི་བཅུད། །

nyepa sum gyi do ngak dütsi chü

Through the threefold pleasing action, in the glorious knot of your heart

ཐུགས་ཀྱི་དཔལ་བེར་བསྐྱིལ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

tuk kyi pel ber kyil la sölwa dep

you gathered the nectar of Sutra and Mantra. I pray to you.

པད་འབྱུང་དངོས་སྣང་པདྨ་དབང་ཆེན་དང༌། །

pejung ngö nang pema wangchen dang

Pema Wangchen, who was Padmākara in person,

དཔལ་ལྡན་དཔའ་བོ་གཙུག་ལག་ཆོས་རྒྱལ་གྱིས། །

pelden pawo tsuklak chögyel gyi

and the glorious Pawo Tsuklak Chögyal—

བརྡའ་ཡིས་ལུང་བསྟན་དོན་གྱི་བརྒྱུད་པ་གཏད། །

da yi lungten dön gyi gyüpa té

they gave you directions and entrusted you with the ultimate lineage.

བགེགས་སེལ་དངོས་གྲུབ་བརྙེས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས།

gek sel ngödrup nyé la sölwa dep

I pray to you, whose hindrances were dispelled and who attained all siddhis.

ཁྱད་པར་འཇམ་མགོན་མཁྱེན་བརྩེའི་དབང་པོ་དང༌། །

khyepar jam gön khyentsé wangpo dang

Especially, upon meeting Jamyang Khyentsé Wangpo

ཡབ་སྲས་འབྲེལ་བའི་ལས་ཀྱི་འཕྲོ་སད་ནས། །

yapsé drelwé lé kyi tro sé né

you awakened the residual karmic link of father and son.

ཐུགས་ཡིད་གཅིག་འདྲེས་ངོ་མཚར་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་གྱི། །

tuk yi chik dré ngotsar tendrel gyi

Mingling your minds, you opened hundreds of doors

སྒོ་འཕར་བརྒྱ་ཕྲག་ཕྱེས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

gopar gyatrak ché la sölwa dep

for wondrous coincidences. I pray to you.

སྐྱེ་བས་ཐོབ་པའི་དྲི་མེད་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྤྱན། །

kyewé toppé drimé yeshé chen

To your immaculate wisdom eye, attained at birth,

དྲང་ངེས་ཆོས་ལ་ལྐོག་ཏུ་མ་གྱུར་བས། །

drang ngé chö la kok tu magyurwé

nothing in the expedient or definitive teachings was concealed.

མཁས་དང་གྲུབ་པར་རློམ་ཀུན་ཟིལ་ནོན་པའི། །

khé dang druppar lom kün zil nönpé

I pray to you, who perfected the great power of the twofold knowledge,

མཁྱེན་གཉིས་རྩལ་ཆེན་རྫོགས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

khyen nyi tsel chen dzok la sölwa dep

outshining all who pretend to be learned or accomplished.

ས་སྤྱོད་གསུང་གི་འཁོར་ལོ་ལ་སོགས་པར། །

sachö sung gi khorlo lasokpar

At the Terrestrial Chakra of Speech,¹ and in other places too,

བསྐྱེད་རྫོགས་རྫོགས་ཆེན་རྣལ་འབྱོར་མཐར་ཕྱིན་ཏེ། །

kyedzok dzogchen neljor tarchin té

you perfected the stages of development, completion, and Great Perfection.

འཁྲུལ་པ་ཞིག་ཅིང་ལས་བཞིར་རང་དབང་འབྱོར། །

trülpa zhik ching lé zhir rangwang jor

I pray to you, who caused confusion to collapse

གྲུབ་པའི་གཙུག་རྒྱན་གྱུར་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

druppé tsukgyen gyur la sölwa dep

in your mastery over the four activities, the crown ornament of all siddhas.

དག་པའི་སྣང་བར་པདྨ་འོད་ཞིང་དུ། །

dakpé nangwar pema ö zhing du

Again and again, in pure visions you went

ཡང་ཡང་ཕེབས་ནས་བླ་མ་སྐུ་གསུམ་དང༌། །

yangyang pep né lama ku sum dang

to the realm of Lotus Light, performing the four aspects of approach and accomplishment

རྗེ་འབངས་ཚོགས་བཅས་བསྙེན་སྒྲུབ་རྣམ་བཞི་མཛད། །

jebang tsok ché nyendrup nam zhi dzé

in the company of the trikāya gurus and the gathering of disciples.

དབང་བསྐུར་ལུང་བསྟན་ཐོབ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

wangkur lungten top la sölwa dep

I pray to you, who received empowerments and prophecies.

རྒྱལ་བ་སྲས་བཅས་ཡི་དམ་དཔག་མེད་གཟིགས། །

gyelwa sé ché yidam pakmé zik

Perceiving countless Conquerors with their heirs and yidams,

མཁའ་འགྲོ་རྣམས་དང་ཚོགས་ཀྱི་འདུ་བར་རོལ། །

khandro nam dang tsok kyi duwar röl

you partook in feast gatherings with all the ḍākinīs.

དམ་ཅན་གཏེར་སྲུང་དཀར་ཕྱོགས་སྐྱོང་རྣམས་ཀྱིས། །

damchen tersung karchok kyong nam kyi

I pray to you, whose every command is obeyed

ཅི་བཅོལ་བཀའ་བཞིན་སྒྲུབ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

chi chöl ka zhin drup la sölwa dep

by pledge holders, treasure guardians, and protectors of the Victors.

བླ་མ་སྐོར་གསུམ་སྒྲུབ་སྡེ་ཞི་དང་ཁྲོ། །

lama korsum drupdé zhi dang tro

You revealed the Three Cycles of the Guru, with sādhanas both peaceful and wrathful,

མཉམ་སྦྱོར་མདོ་སྒྱུ་རྫོགས་ཆེན་སྡེ་གསུམ་སོགས། །

nyamjor do gyu dzogchen dé sum sok

the union of Sutra and Tantra, the Three Sections of the Great Perfection, and others.

སྔོན་ཆད་ས་སྟེང་མ་བྱོན་ཆོས་རྟེན་གྱི། །

ngönché sateng majön chö ten gyi

I pray to you, who opened the great treasury of jewels—

ནོར་བུའི་མཛོད་ཆེན་ཕྱུང་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

norbü dzö chen chung la sölwa dep

Dharma representations never before revealed on earth.

མདོ་ཁམས་གནས་ཆེན་ཉེར་ལྔ་གཙོར་གྱུར་པའི། །

dokham né chen nyernga tsor gyurpé

In person, you visited a hundred sacred sites,

གནས་མཆོག་བརྒྱ་རྩའི་ཞལ་རས་དངོས་བརྒྱུད་ནས། །

né chok gya tsé zhelré ngö gyü né

foremost among them Dokham’s twenty-five major places.

སྣང་བར་མཛད་ཅིང་སྐྱེ་རྒུ་མཐའ་ཡས་པ། །

nangwar dzé ching kyegu tayepa

I pray to you, who illuminated them all

ཐར་པའི་ཁ་ལོ་སྒྱུར་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

tarpé khalo gyur la sölwa dep

and became the helmsman for countless beings, steering the way to liberation.

ཀར་འབྲུག་ཡབ་སྲས་སྔ་འགྱུར་བསྟན་འཛིན་མཆོག །

kar druk yapsé ngagyur tendzin chok

Led by the Karma and Drukpa hierarchs,the supreme doctrine holders of the Early Translations,

གངས་ཅན་དཔལ་མགོན་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་གཙོར་མཛད་པའི། །

gangchen pelgön nam kyi tsor dzepé

and the glorious protectors from the Land of Snow—

རིས་མེད་སྐྱེས་ཆེན་ཀུན་གྱིས་ཞབས་ལ་བཏུད། །

rimé kyé chen kün gyi zhap la tü

the great beings of all traditions bowed down at your feet.

བླ་མའི་བླ་མར་གྱུར་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

lamé lamar gyur la sölwa dep

I pray to you, who became the master of masters.

ཨོ་རྒྱན་རྡོ་རྗེའི་ལུང་གིས་བསྔགས་པ་ཡི། །

orgyen dorjé lung gi ngakpa yi

There were ten major recipients of your teachings

རྩ་བའི་ཆོས་བདག་རྣམ་བཅུས་ཐོག་དྲངས་ཏེ། །

tsawé chödak nam chü tok drang té

extolled in the vajra predictions of Orgyen.

མངའ་རིས་དབུས་གཙང་མདོ་ཁམས་མཐའ་དབུས་སུ། །

ngari wütsang dokham ta wü su

I pray to you, whose profound treasures and activities were spread

ཟབ་གཏེར་ཕྲིན་ལས་སྤེལ་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

zapter trinlé pel la sölwa dep

by these ten—throughout Ngari, Central Tibet, Tsang, and Dokham.

གནས་མཆོག་རྣམས་ལ་རྡོ་རྗེའི་བྱིན་ཆེན་ཕབ། །

né chok nam la dorjé jin chen pap

Showering vajra blessings in splendor at all sacred sites,

སྡེ་བརྒྱད་འབྱུང་པོར་བཀའ་ནན་རབ་བརྗིད་བསྩལ། །

dé gyé jungpor ka nen rap ji tsel

you subdued all eight spirit classes with your majestic command.

ས་གནད་ཀུན་ཏུ་ཕྱི་ནང་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་བསྒྲིགས། །

sa né küntu chinang tendrel drik

I pray to you, who repelled the evils of the degenerate age,

སྙིགས་མའི་སྐལ་ངན་ཟློག་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

nyikmé kel ngen dok la sölwa dep

arranging the outer and inner coincidences through all the major sites.

ཐུན་མོང་ཐུན་མོང་མིན་པའི་སྨིན་གྲོལ་དང༌། །

tünmong tünmong minpé mindröl dang

You imparted the general and specific transmissions for ripening and freeing.

སྒྲུབ་ཆེན་གར་འཆམ་མྱོང་གྲོལ་སྦྱིན་པ་སོགས། །

drupchen gar cham nyongdröl jinpa sok

You performed Great Accomplishments and dances, and the gift of liberation by taste.

ཕྱོགས་མེད་སྩལ་པས་སྐྱེ་རྒུ་གྲངས་མེད་པ། །

chokmé tselpé kyegu drangmepa

You spread these activities, without partiality, for countless beings.

འབྲེལ་ཚད་དོན་ལྡན་མཛད་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

dreltsé dönden dzé la sölwa dep

You benefited everyone you encountered. I pray to you.

རྟག་འཛིན་ཅན་རྣམས་དགེ་ལ་བསྐུལ་བ་དང༌། །

tak dzinchen nam gé la külwa dang

You then perceived a greater purpose in another realm

དོན་མཆོག་རྒྱ་ཆེན་གཞན་ལ་གཟིགས་ནས་ཀྱང༌། །

dön chok gyachen zhen la zik né kyang

and the need to urge to virtue those who cling to permanence.

སྐལ་ལྡན་སྣང་ངོར་ཆོ་འཕྲུལ་དུ་མར་བཅས། །

kelden nang ngor chotrül dumar ché

I pray to you, who went to the Lotus Light,

པདྨ་འོད་དུ་གཤེགས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

pema ö du shek la sölwa dep

surrounded by numerous miracles that were perceived by the worthy.

པདྨས་ཡོངས་སུ་ཁེབས་པའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་སུ། །

pemé yongsu kheppé zhingkham su

Within the vastness of the Lotus-Covered Realm,

པདྨ་འི་འོད་ཟེར་རྒྱལ་བའི་སྲས་མཆོག་ནི། །

pema i özer gyelwé sé chok ni

You are the supreme child of the victor Lotus Light Rays.

པདྨའི་མྱུ་གུ་ལ་སོགས་ཕྱོགས་བཅུ་ན། །

pemé nyugu lasok chok chu na

I pray to you, who manifests as Lotus Essence,

རྣམ་འཕྲུལ་མཐའ་ཡས་སྟོན་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །

namtrül tayé tön la sölwa dep

while also displaying infinite other emanations.

སྒོ་གསུམ་གུས་པས་གསོལ་འདེབས་བུ་རྣམས་ལ། །

go sum güpé söldep bu nam la

Bestow the blessings of your awakened body, speech, and mind

སྐུ་གསུང་ཐུགས་ཀྱི་བྱིན་རླབས་སྩོལ་བ་དང༌། །

ku sung tuk kyi jinlap tsölwa dang

upon all devoted disciples who supplicate you with their three doors.

སྐྱེ་བ་ཀུན་ཏུ་འབྲལ་མེད་རྗེས་བཟུང་ནས། །

kyewa küntu drelmé jezung né

Accepting us throughout all our lives, without separation,

དག་པའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་མཆོག་ཏུ་དྲང་དུ་གསོལ། །

dakpé zhingkham chok tu drang du söl

guide and lead us to the supreme pure realm.

བྱང་ཆུབ་སྒྲུབ་པའི་འགལ་རྐྱེན་ཀུན་ཞི་ཞིང༌། །

jangchup druppé gelkyen kün zhi zhing

As we pacify all adverse conditions that hinder awakening,

གནས་སྐབས་བསམ་དོན་ཆོས་བཞིན་འགྲུབ་པ་དང༌། །

nekap samdön chö zhin druppa dang

May our wishes on a temporal level be fulfilled in accord with the Dharma.

རིག་འཛིན་རྣམ་བཞིའི་གོ་འཕང་བདེ་བླག་བགྲོད། །

rigdzin nam zhi gopang delak drö

As we journey with ease through the four vidyādhara levels,

མཐར་ཐུག་བདེ་ཆེན་རྡོ་རྗེ་སེམས་འགྲུབ་ཤོག །

tartuk dechen dorjé sem drup shok

may we ultimately accomplish Vajrasattva of great bliss.

ཟབ་གཏེར་བསྟན་པ་འཛམ་གླིང་ཀུན་ཏུ་ཁྱབ། །

zapter tenpa dzamling küntu khyap

May the profound Treasure teachings spread throughout the Jambu Continent.

དེ་འཛིན་སྐྱེས་མཆོག་སྐུ་ཚེ་བསྐལ་བརྒྱར་བརྟན། །

dé dzin kyechok kutsé kel gyar ten

May the lives of the great upholders last for a hundred aeons.

ཕྲིན་ལས་རྟག་ཅིང་ཁྱབ་པའི་དགེ་ལེགས་ཀྱིས། །

trinlé tak ching khyappé gelek kyi

With this goodness of vast and everlasting activity,

བཀྲ་ཤིས་ཉི་མས་ས་གསུམ་སྣང་གྱུར་ཅིག །

tashi nyimé sa sum nang gyur chik

may the sun of this auspiciousness illuminate the three worlds.

ཅེས་རིགས་ལྡན་མཁའ་འགྲོའི་གཙོ་མོ་བདེ་ཆེན་ཆོས་སྒྲོན་གྱིས་རྟེན་དང་བཅས་པའི་གསུང་གིས་བསྐུལ་བ་དང༌། མོས་ལྡན་གཞན་དག་གིས་ཀྱང་མཚམས་སྦྱར་བ་ལ་བརྟེན། གཏེར་ཆེན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་རྒྱལ་པོ་གང་དེའི་གསང་བའི་མཛོད་ཀྱིས་དབུགས་དབྱུང་བསྩལ་པ། ཀརྨ་ངག་དབང་ཡོན་ཏན་རྒྱ་མཚོའམ། བློ་གྲོས་མཐའ་ཡས་པའི་སྡེས་གུས་པ་ཆེན་པོས་བྲིས་ནས་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པ་དགེ་ལེགས་འཕེལ།།  །།

This was based on the verbal request accompanied by gifts and made by the noble chief of ḍākinīs, Dechen Chödrön, in combination with the requests of devoted others. It was written with great veneration by Karma Ngawang Yönten Gyatso, alias Lodrö Tayé, someone who has been blessed with the treasury of secrets by the Great Tertön, the Dharma King.
