The Eight Great Sacred Sites of the Buddha

Posted on February 12, 2021

Happy Losar Everyone,

Today is the first day of the lunar new year, the Year of the Iron Ox, known as Losar in Tibetan. As countries throughout Southeast and East Asia celebrate through their own traditions, we at Lhasey Lotsawa wish everyone a Happy New Year. Today also marks the beginning of Chötrul Düchen, honoring the Buddha's vast display of miracles in Shravasti, lasting until the first full moon of the new year. During this time our karmic actions are multiplied infinitely.

In honor of Chötrul Düchen, we are excited to announce the expansion our pilgrimage project, Nekhor, to incorporate the Eight Great Sites of the Buddha. Through learning of the marvelous deeds of our supreme teacher, Buddha Shakyamuni, we hope this information will inspire your practice and that as the world continues fighting to overcome this devastating illness, travel to these profound sites of accomplishment will again be possible. The link here will take you to our newly updated Nekhor website, where you will find information regarding the sites of Buddha Shakyamuni and Guru Padmasambhava, as well as more information to come as our projects develop.
