Brief Verses of Dedication
sönam topchen diyi tü
By the great power of this merit,
jindak khor dang ché nam la
may the aims of the sponsors and their associates
tsé dir sampé dön drup ching
all be fulfilled in this very life!
barché zhi né trashipa
May they enjoy auspiciousness free of obstacles,
sampa chö zhin drupé trashi shok
and may their wishes be fulfilled in accord with the Dharma!
sönam di yi tayé drowa kün༔
Through this merit, for all sentient beings, infinite in number,
chi nang sangwé barché kün zhi zhing༔
may outer, inner, and secret obstacles be pacified!
rim nyi lam gyi dröpa tarchin né༔
May they complete the path of the two stages,
pema gyelpö gopang nyur top shok༔
and swiftly attain the state of the Lotus King!
sönam diyi tamché zikpa nyi
Through this merit may all attain omniscience
topné nyepé dranam pam jené
and conquer the enemy, wrong action!
kyega nachi balap trukpa yi
May all be freed from samsara’s ocean
sipé tsölé drowa drölwar shok
and its pounding waves of birth, old age, sickness, and death!
gewa di yi kyewo kün
Through this virtue, may all beings
sönam yeshé tsok sak té
complete the accumulations of merit and wisdom,
sönam yeshé lé jungwé
and from this merit and wisdom
dampa ku nyi topar shok
may they attain the two kāyas!
jangchup semchok rinpoché
May the precious mind of awakening
makyé panam kyé gyur chik
arise in those for whom it has not yet arisen,
kyepa nyampar mepa yang
and where it has arisen may it never wane,
gongné gongdu pelwar shok
but increase forever more!
Lhasey Lotsawa Translations, 2019 (trans. Oriane Lavole and Laura Dainty, ed. Libby Hogg).
jampal pawö jitar khyenpa dang
Just as the bodhisattva Mañjuśrī attained omniscience,
küntuzangpo deyang dezhin té
and Samantabhadra too,
dedak kün gyi jesu dak lop chir
all these merits now I dedicate
gewa didak tamché raptu ngo
to training and following in their footsteps.
dü sum shekpé gyalwa tamché kyi
Just as all the victorious buddhas of past, present, and future
ngowa gangla chok tu ngakpa dé
praise dedication as supreme,
dak gi gewé tsawa di kün kyang
so now I dedicate all these roots of virtue
zangpo chö chir raptu ngowar gyi
so that all beings may perfect good actions.
Rigpa Translations, 1996. Spelling and phonetics adjusted to Lhasey Lotsawa style.
künzang dorjé chang chen menché né
From the great Samantabhadra Vajradhara
drinchen tsawé lama yenché kyi
down until our kind root guru,
drowé döndu mön lam gang tapa
may the aspirations made for the benefit of beings
dedak tamché deng dir drupar shok
be fulfilled this very day!
Translated by Erik Pema Kunsang.
sangyé ku sum nyépé jinlap dang
By the blessings of the buddhas who have attained the three kāyas,
chönyi mi gyur denpé jinlap dang
by the blessings of the unchanging truth of dharmatā,
gendün mi ché dünpé jinlap kyi
and by the blessings of the unshakeable will of the Sangha,
jitar ngö zhin mönlam drupar shok
may our every wish and dedication be fulfilled!
